Oyo State Government Sets To Launch Utility Card At Lekan Salami Stadium.

The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports is excited to announce the launch of Utility Card, a cutting-edge solution designed to simplify fee collection at the renowned Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

This is contained in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for the Ministry, Hon Wasilat Adegoke issued in Ibadan and made available to newsmen. She revealed with delight that, this marks the first time in West Africa that a contactless payment card will be rolled out at this scale, and the first-ever for a stadium in the region.

She declared that, innovative utility card will revolutionize payment processes for services and events at the stadium, offering visitors, fans, and other users a streamlined, cashless experience. The card promotes efficiency and convenience in managing stadium access and services, ensuring a hassle-free environment for all.

Adegoke said, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, the Ministry is set to integrate the utility card with various services within the stadium, enhancing both fan experiences and facility management. Priced at â‚Ķ500, the card can be recharged via bank apps, POS devices, and at the stadium itself, offering multiple convenient options for users.

“This initiative is part of the State’s larger agenda to modernize sports infrastructure and improve service delivery at all sporting facilities. The Oyo State Utility Card will serve as a versatile payment tool for ticketing, parking, concessions, and other stadium services. The implementation will occur in phases, with regular updates provided to the public to ensure smooth adoption.

Reducing reliance on cash for quicker, more efficient payments. Minimizing risks associated with cash handling while increasing financial transparency.

Users can easily reload the card and monitor balances for a seamless experience.”

She encourages the public, sports enthusiasts, and stakeholders to support the successful rollout of this innovation. This initiative represents another milestone in Governor Seyi Makinde’s ongoing in efforts to improve sports infrastructure and deliver world-class services to the people of Oyo State.

Nigeria @ 64: Makinde Calls For Unity And Peace In The Current Challenges.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has called on residents and citizens of Oyo State to reflect on the current challenges as a nation and live in unity and peace for development, progress and stability of the State and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Makinde’ made the call on Tuesday at the 64th National Independence Day Celebration with the theme: “Youth Digital Innovation as a Panacea for Economic Growth” held at Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasigba , Ibadan.

He equally charged the citizens of the Country to remember the sacrifices made by its forefathers by working tirelessly to develop a Nigeria that they would be proud of.

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, expressed optimism that best days are still ahead despite the insecurity, social and economic challenges the Country is faced with, stressed that Oyo State Government is moving forward in unity.

Noting that insecurity is one of the major challenge in Nigeria, he stated that, Oyo State Government has tackled the issue of insecurity to the bearest minimum, secured lives and properties, ease doing of business and as much lift people out of poverty to prosperity.

He added that efforts are ongoing as the Government would soon roll out more policies to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal for the people of the State.

He also said that Oyo State Government and other educational agencies are working assiduously to ensure proper education are given to the students from primary to tertiary levels so that the youths are not idle.

He congratulated and commended the State workforce for their continuous unwavering support, understanding, cooperation and encouragement to govern the State peacefully.

The occasion witnessed the usual match past parade by the men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force as well as pupils, students and voluntary Youth organizations in the State.

Oyo Govt’ Celebrates Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day With Thanksgiving Service

Oyo State Government on Sunday joined Nigerians across the country to celebrate the nation’s 64th Independence Day anniversary with a thanksgiving service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Aremo.

The Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Professor Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo, led the State’s delegation to the church service, which was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the community.

In her remarks, the SSG reiterated the State Government’s commitment to promoting unity, peace, and development in Oyo State.

“We are gathered here today to give thanks to God for the gift of independence and to reflect on our journey as a nation,” Prof Adeyemo said. “As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to working together towards a brighter future for our State and Country.”

The church service featured soul-stirring prayers, uplifting hymns, and thought-provoking readings, culminating in a powerful sermon delivered by Very Reverend Samuel K. Olawoyin. Reflecting on the theme “Love as the Summary of Law,” Very Revd. Olawoyin emphasized the imperative of embracing love, peace, and unity in Nigeria.

“Love is the foundation of our existence, the thread that weaves our diversity into a beautiful tapestry,” Very Revd. Olawoyin stressed. “As Nigerians, we must recognize that love is the summary of the law, the guiding principle that should shape our interactions and relationships.”

Very Revd. Olawoyin urged the congregation to eschew hatred, bitterness, and division, instead embracing the transformative power of love. “Let us love one another, even as God loves us,” he implored. “Let us seek to understand, to forgive, and to reconcile.”

The cleric’s message resonated deeply with the congregation, who were visibly moved by his words. The service concluded with a heartfelt prayer for Nigeria, led by Reverend Olawoyin, who prayed for peace, unity, and progress in the country.

Speaking with journalists after the service, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, described the programme as a symbol of the State Government’s dedication to promoting national unity.

The thanksgiving service was attended by Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Revd. NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES: Oyo State To Participate In 28 Sports, Sports Commissioner Discloses

Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, bid a fond farewell to Oyo State’s talented athletes as they departed for the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

In her address, Commissioner Adegoke expressed her well-wishes, saying, “I wish you all the best as you represent Oyo State. The State Government, under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, is fully behind you. Showcase your training, dedication, and passion in every competition.

The Commissioner emphasized the State Government’s full support for the athletes’ endeavors, urging them to excel in every competition and make Oyo State proud.

A total of 250 athletes and 58 officials from Oyo State will participate in the games, competing in 28 sports, including ball games. The 8th edition of the National Youth Games, organized by the Federal Ministry of Sports, will feature under-15 athletes from 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.

Commissioner Adegoke admonished the athletes to exhibit good behavior and secure gold in all events. She commended Team Oyo for clinching first position in five team sports at the Zonal Elimination for ball games held in Osogbo recently.

With the State Government’s full support and the athletes’ determination, Team Oyo is poised to make a significant impact at the National Youth Games.

IMPLEMENTATION OF OMITUNTUN 2.0 ENTERPRISESKILL DEVELOPMENT

PROGRAMME(OEs – DEP) FOR UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES IN OYO STATE

In fulfilment of the electioneering promises of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde, FNSE on Youth involvement and empowerment, Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports is organising a Training and Empowerment programme for unemployed graduates in the State tagged OMITUNTUN 2.0 Enterprise Skill Development Programme (OEs DEP).

2. The programme is targeted at unemployed graduates of between ages 22-35 years who are indigenes of Oyo State for their socio-economic emancipation. Selected participants are expected to be trained on:

  • Enterprise Management skill/ Financial Management
  • Business Development, Initiative and Sustenance
  • Leadership skill
  • Entrepreneurship skill
  • Communication Skill
  • Mentorship and Internship

3. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

  • To fulfil the electioneering promises of His Excellency, the Executive Governor on Youth Empowerment and Inclusiveness.
  • To train and empower 500 unemployed graduates across the 33 Local Government Areas at 15 candidates per LGA on entrepreneurship, business development & sustenance among others for socio-economic self reliance.
  • To enhance human capital development that yields sustainable and profitable output for the beneficiaries.
  • To give the youths in Oyo State a sense of belonging and equal opportunity across the zones.
