Oyo Commissioner for Youth and Sports Urges Young People to Seize Opportunity, Register for Skill Acquisition Program – See Registration Link

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced an exciting opportunity for 500 young individuals (graduates) in the State to acquire new skills and enhance their employability. This initiative is part of Governor Makinde’s efforts to empower youth and promote economic growth in the region.

Honourable commissioner for youth and sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke noted that through this program, participants will have access to training and resources that will equip them with valuable skills in various areas. This is a fantastic chance for young people to upskill, reskill, and gain a competitive edge in the job market.

IMPLEMENTATION OF OMITUNTUN 2.0 ENTERPRISESKILL DEVELOPMENT

PROGRAMME(OEs – DEP) FOR UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES IN OYO STATE

In fulfilment of the electioneering promises of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde, FNSE on Youth involvement and empowerment, Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports is organising a Training and Empowerment programme for unemployed graduates in the State tagged OMITUNTUN 2.0 Enterprise Skill Development Programme (OEs DEP).

2. The programme is targeted at unemployed graduates of between ages 22-35 years who are indigenes of Oyo State for their socio-economic emancipation. Selected participants are expected to be trained on:

  • Enterprise Management skill/ Financial Management
  • Business Development, Initiative and Sustenance
  • Leadership skill
  • Entrepreneurship skill
  • Communication Skill
  • Mentorship and Internship

3. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

  • To fulfil the electioneering promises of His Excellency, the Executive Governor on Youth Empowerment and Inclusiveness.
  • To train and empower 500 unemployed graduates across the 33 Local Government Areas at 15 candidates per LGA on entrepreneurship, business development & sustenance among others for socio-economic self reliance.
  • To enhance human capital development that yields sustainable and profitable output for the beneficiaries.
  • To give the youths in Oyo State a sense of belonging and equal opportunity across the zones.

  1. It is worthy to note that His Excellency, the Executive Governor has out of his magnanimity has promised to personally provide stater packs for business take –off to all the 500 participants across the 33 LGAs. Secondly, this training and stater packs shall continue to be implemented annually and provision would be made for it.
